Stefan Constantinescu was invited as a speaker at the International Summit “Musculoskeletal diseases, infections and vaccines: state of the art and research perspectives” held in San Servolo (Venice) on 26 and 27 September 2023.
The event was organized by the European Interdisciplinary Council on Ageing (EICA) and the European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis (ESCEO).
The aim of this summit was to review the evidence on the impact of common vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs) on the development and progression of musculoskeletal diseases (MSKDs), and to explore the role played by sarcopenia, frailty and background inflammation, typical of MSKDs, in the response to immunization of older adults.
