Prof. George Griffin on polio discussion at WHO meeting

“The WHO has a polio eradication programme and in order to achieve this vaccines programmes and environmental surveillance are crucial”, Professor George Griffin stated after the WHO committee meeting on polio.

The Past-President of FEAM was invited to discuss this topic in Geneva at the WHO headquarters in Switzerland at a conference held from 23-25 January.

During the 3-day conference, the committee focused on addressing the containment of wild polio virus. The group also reviewed new advances in polio vaccine research that will lead to new poliovirus vaccines and the eradication of polio in the future, including recombinant proteins.
