FEAM Forum Annual Lecture on Artificial Intelligence in healthcare: is Europe ready? – 18 March 2019, Brussels

About the Annual Lecture

Important discussions are currently ongoing on the potential application of the artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare sector. In this regard, European authorities have been discussing for a while the opportunity of using AI for managing, interpreting and monitoring medical data to identify recommendation for a proper and correct use of it.

However, although AI offers solid promises to improve the healthcare system, on the other hand it brings many concerns on ethics principles, safety, trust and transparency towards users. The current question is now to understand whether Europe is ready to welcome and tackle the changing coming with it. To answer at this question, the FEAM is organizing an annual lecture with high-level experts of the field from different sectors (healthcare professionals’, academia, industry, etc.) to provide a clear prospective on challenges and opportunities and to identify recommendations and priorities to be addressed by European and national policy-makers to ensure the proper and safe use of the AI.
