Workshop
How should Europe prepare and respond to cross-border health  threats: HERA?
31 January 2022
13:00 – 16:00 CET
Recording of event: here

At this event, high-level European and French Government Representatives will discuss implications of the Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority (HERA) and of the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) under the seal of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union starting in January until July 2022.

As a result of a collaboration between the four French Academies of Medicine, of Veterinary Sciences, of Pharmacy and of Agriculture with the Federation of European Academies of Medicine (FEAM), this workshop aims to bring insights to be further developed and strengthened during an International Symposium on “One Health” in Spring 2022, with its main messages being articulated into a joint report informing the French policy work on the matter.

In the context of the still ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, reflecting on better preparedness and response regarding health threats seems crucial. The relationship between the EU decision-making level and national involvement is another milestone to be carefully addressed. A statement summarising FEAM’s positions on the files composing the EU Health Union will be shared ahead of the workshop.
