Workshop: COVID-19 health inequalities in Europe | 29 September

On 29 September, the Federation of European Academies of Medicine (FEAM) and its partners in the PERISCOPE project will organise the workshop “COVID-19 health inequalities in Europe“. From 10AM to 1PM (CET), researchers, policymakers and other interested stakeholders, including civil society, will discuss about the key points of the report on the health inequalities impacts in the context of COVID-19 and policy measures in response to the pandemic, produced as a result of the PERISCOPE project.

This workshop is organised in the context of PERISCOPE, which stands for Pan-European Response to the Impacts of COVID-19 and future Pandemics and Epidemics. This European research project aims to shed light on the broad socio-economic and behavioural impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, to make Europe more resilient and prepared for future large-scale risks.

In this event, five partners – Mental Health Europe, Karolinska Institute, London School of Economics and Political Science, French National Institute of Health and Medical Research, and University of Ghent –, coordinated by the FEAM, will present and discuss the main findings of the research on the health inequalities impacts in the context of COVID-19 and policy measures in response to the pandemic.

In order to enrich the final interim report, this workshop aims to seek feedback from participants, who will be invited to choose one of four breakout rooms on the following topics: (1) inequalities in COVID-19 health outcomes; (2) mental health inequalities; (3) inequalities in access to healthcare; and (4) vaccine inequalities.
